Casino robberies are becoming more and more popular these days, as we reported last year, in December an armed robber took $1,5 in chips from the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Police arrested him in February and revealed him to be the son of George Assad, Municipal Court Judge of Las Vegas.

This time around, it was the Rio Casino that faced a burglary, according to 8 News Now Las Vegas:

“Police say the suspect walked into the Rio and began taking chips off of a gaming table. When the dealer at the table tried to stop him, he pulled out a gun. The man did not fire the weapon and no one was injured.”

The incident happened at 4:30 a.m. local time yesterday morning. According to witnesses the suspect then took a taxi to the Terrible's Casino and disappeared into the crowd. Police say the suspect is a 40 year old white male with a moustache.

The increasing number of robberies is drawing much more attention to the leaks of the security systems of the biggest brick & mortar casinos in the US. Employee security seems to be nonexistent, security personnel won't stop an ongoing robbery and seemingly no infrastructure is present at casinos that would prevent robberies.

It's even more troubling for the Rio Casino, as the 42th WSOP is about to kick off there in less then 3 months.
