Useful Micro Limit Poker Tips for Beginners - Part 12

Lost & Found | estimated reading time
2012. August 03.
This is the twelwth part of the poker ebook written by the two Hungarian poker professionals, kocka21 and mrj. We have gotten to the end of the ebook, with only our final thoughts left to share with you all.
With this final part, our sole goal is for the readers to recognize themselves, and realise that it is only yourself that can stand in the way of your own development.

If it is this easy, why doesn't everybody do this?

The question in itself is justified, but the answer is very simple. The following statements are just as true for poker as for all the other fields of life. A very small percentage of the people is capable of working assiduously and consequently enough for a long time, even when the results cannot be seen at a first glance.

That's it.

Among those people that will flick through this book, I presume there will be the folowing groups:
  • ca. 30% will have a look at the ebook, but not read it through, and put it aside, saying it will be worth reading sometime later, then forget about it.
  • ca. 20% will have a look and say that I am a self-satisfied prick, and how dare I say such things with no background
  • ca. 30% will read the whole material, find it useful and think about how good it would be to use this knowledge in practice, then forget about it
  • ca. 15% will go through the whole thing, decide that these pieces of advice are worth keeping, but stop utilising them after a bigger downswing
  • ca. 4% will keep studying after the first downswing, maybe with month-long stops and not at full speed, but will still mildly improve on the long run
  • ca. 1% (and I might be too optimistic here) will consequently, consciously and with hard work improve himself and never stop learning. They will always play according to the best they can do and spend as much time as possible on studying and analysing. They will not care about the downswings, and trust their capabilities 100%. They will look at the game with unbreakable optimism, even when they are in the middle of a bad run.
If someone finds these estimates too pessimistic, I would recommend thinking about the following: less than 10% of all the players out there are winning ones. And above, I was not saying that 1% will be the amount of winning players; I said that this will be the maximum that can show something extra, something above all the winning players. I myself would not consider being in this category yet.

And the answer to the question "When is this worth starting?" is definitely NOW!

So.. Which group will You belong to?

That's all folks!
