Ziigmund Takes a Major Portion of South’s 2010 Winnings

September 10, 2010
Cole South and Ilari ’Ziigmund’ Sahamies played around 790 hands of non-Cap $500/$1,000 PLO HU yesterday on Full Tilt Poker. Although South started better, Ziggy soon gained the upper hand and won $709,000 from the ex-CardRunners trainer.

The pots were sometimes over $150,000 and Ziigmund even took one worth $1.2 million. South was eventually down $638,000, a vast contribution to losing $1.1 million from his total winnings of 2010. Ziggy, on the other hand, now has a profit of $1 million this year with this recent addition to his bankroll being his biggest of late. He commented the match in his distinctive manner: “I got lucky.”

The two already have a history; South won $519,000 from Ziigmund merely a week ago in 337 hands of $500/$1,000 PLO and it was also South who took a $602,000 pot in a $300/$600 PLO game in January. Although they are not on the best terms, that does not seem to keep them from playing several of the most interesting hands every now and then.
