The Montesino Casino of Vienna, Austria has launched its very own attempt to break the world record of poker endurance. While organisers set to break Phil Laak’s record, which they mark as the current Guinness World Record of 115 hours of play without a break (set up at the Bellagio, Las Vegas in 2010), the actual record is currently held by Barry Denson, who played 120 hours and 20 minutes at the G Casino in Manchester last year.
The Montesino attempt at the new record launched on 12 August at 17:00 CET and is planned to end on 18 August, at 17:00 CET. Participants play at seven-handed tables and the minimum buy-in was €2,000. Mixed games are offered to the players of the attempt with €10/€20 NLHE and €10/€20 PLO games changing in every 10 hours.
Several nationalities are represented, including PartyPoker Team Pro German Bodo Sbrzesny. In addition to the record, the player who holds out the longest receives a €4,000 package to the Carribean Poker Tour Punta Cana.
