2010 WSOP Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel got attacked on 21 December, 2011 in his home in Boucherville, Canada. Two men rang his doorbell and forced their way in upon him answering the door. The pro got physically assaulted and robbed. Within four days, the Longueuil Police Department arrested four persons: John-Stephan Clark-Lemay, Anthony Bourque, Andre-Robert Perron and Duhamel’s ex-girlfriend, 20-year-old Bianca Rojas-Latraverse, who was charged with being the mastermind behind the attack.
The attackers took Duhamel’s world championship bracelet, the Rolex watch he got for his victory and $115,000 in cash.
According to the latest news, Rojas-Latraverse has recently pleaded guilty after years of denial and admitted to have planned the attack on Duhamel. This means she can face a sentence for life in prison, which means 25 years according to the local law.
Rojas-Latraverse’s lawyer, Sarah Desabrais is currently building the defence on her regretting her crime and willing to take the necessary steps to find the right path and to develop her personality. Still, local media suggests that the most severe punishment is not yet off the table. In case she does get a more forgiving sentence, it would probably still mean a lot of years behind bars.
