Aussie Millions 2012 Main Event – Dion in the Lead, Ivey is Shortstack in the Finale
January 28, 2012Yann Dion finished Aussie Millions Main Event Day 4 in the chiplead; the total of 12 players remaining includes Mohamad Kowssarie, Daniel Idema, Lee Nelson and Phil Ivey, as well.
26 players made it to Day 4 of the Aussie Millions A$10,600 Main Event with Matt Turk in the chiplead with 2,675,000. However, in the centre of attention was not him but eight times WSOP champion Phil Ivey, who had 1,107,000 in chips.
2009 Aussie Millions High Roller champion David Steicke was the first to hit the rail, running into Patrick Healy’s aces with pocket kings and the board being unhelpful. Ivey, on the other hand, started out excellently, taking a major pot with mucked hands from Tim O’Shea to increase his stack to 1,690,000.

The field was quick to diminish; only 16 players were left by the 20th blind level (2,000/8,000/10,000). 2006 Aussie Millions winner Nelson had the lead at this point, who managed to take several pots from Ivey as well, mostly with mucked hands. He was not the only one to shorten the US pro’s stack; Ivey soon lost a major pot to Healy, raising to 200,000 on the latter’s 50,000 bet on the
