EPT Grand Final Super High Roller Final Table

Play started on Level 18 (5,000/25,000/50,000), which also saw the first elimination: Mike Watson shoved his remaining 665,000 with K-Q from the Button on Max Altergott’s raise, but it was only Sorel Mizzi, who called, holding pocket aces. The board did not help Watson and he finished 7th.

On Level 20 (10,000/40,000/80,000), PCA Super High Roller champion shortstack Scott Seiver ran all-in with 895,000 preflop and Mercier from the BB called.

Seiver: {#}9 {#}9
Mercier: {#}A {#}Q

Board: {#}5 {#}K {#}5 {#}T {#}8

Mercier rivered a flush and Seiver finished in 6th place. Still on the same level, Vladimir Troyanovsky was eliminated next, running with king-high into Mizzi’s ace-high, and then Timothy Adams followed, whose pocket nines met Altergott’s pair of aces.

The heads-up was set with Mizzi getting railed: he shoved with 3,110,000 in chips from the SB on Level 21 (10,000/50,000/100,000), Mercier folded and Altergott called.

Altergott: {#}J {#}J
Mizzi: {#}K {#}Q

Board: {#}4 {#}4 {#}8 {#}3 {#}J

The set of jacks for Altergott meant a 3rd finish for Mizzi and the chiplead for Altergott in the HU:

Max Altergott – 7,350,000
Jason Mercier – 5,150,000

The heads-up was over in just about 40 minutes: Mercier took over the lead just before the decisive hand on the very same level still. Altergott raised from the Button to 200,000 Mercier 3-bet to 505,000, the German 4-bet to 1,000,000 and the American called. The flop came {#}8 {#}7 {#}J and Mercier check-called Altergott’s 700,000 bet. The turn ran {#}4 , Mercier checked and Altergott c-bet 1,210,000. Mercier shoved and Altergott called.

Mercier: {#}K {#}7
Altergott: {#}Q {#}Q

River: {#}2

Mercier was left with only 220,000 in chips and it was all over the next hand, Altergott improving to a straight over Mercier’s sixes for his first ever major live tournament win.
