Rational Group Director of Strategy & Business Development, New Platforms, Jeffrey Haas has been announced to part ways with the company behind PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. He has recently been appointed Group Director of Poker at bwin.party, replacing Chris Welch. Prior to Welch leaving the firm in late September, the two of them will work together throughout the month to coordinate the implementation of bwin.party’s new poker software.
Jeffrey Haas
Haas had already worked with bwin.party; in 2005 and 2006, he acted as Director of Product Management for Ongame at Bwin. Later, he headed PokerStars Live, coordinating the company’s global live gaming strategy from London. It was also him who founded the Asia Pacific Poker Tour; China’s first dedicated poker room, the PokerStars Macau Poker Room; as well as the business Global Poker Tours, Limited.
With the new poker software of the bwin.party group concentrating on offering players a “unique set of social benefits,” Haas’ expertise might well come in handy, as he has been part of his current company’s efforts to “establish, manage and grow commercial activities with key platform partners such as Apple, Google, Facebook, Amazon, TelCos & other.”
Haas started his career in journalism and he authored the book Practical Intranet Development, published in 2003, as well as the regular column Technology in Society in Toronto’s Now Magazine from 2004 to 2006.
“We are pleased to have secured Jeffrey’s services to head up poker. He is a well known and seasoned professional who knows poker inside out,” bwin.party Director of Corporate Communications John Shepherd commented.
