Partypoker Returns with Millions Online Knockout Event
Partypoker’s well-known Millions Online Knockout tournament is here, having started on 4 May and running through the end of the month with 10 numbered events. In this article, we will look back at the history of this tournament and look closer at the format so you can see what to look forward to if you join.
Inside the Tournament
The 2023 tournament will be the third iteration of this event. With many poker brands offering exciting events and festivals, the Millions Online KO series competes with features from GGPoker and PokerStars during the month.
This tournament follows a progressive-knockout format instead of the SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker) format. This means half your buy-in goes toward the overall bounty prize pool, and partypoker decided against having multiple buy-in levels.
Buy-ins
Buy-ins start from $55 and can go up to $530, depending on the event. But winning a buy-in tournament isn’t the only way to get a seat at the event tables. You can play partypoker’s special edition Millions SPINS, which can award you a seat worth up to $530. These SPINS have a buy-in of $20, a much lower amount than the cost of joining any numbered events.
Besides the fast-paced Millions SPINS, satellites also run for numbered events, starting as low as $0.01.
Early-Bird Promotion
Players were also able to take part in an Early-Bird Promotion with this tournament. With this, several scheduled events encouraged players to join by offering a bonus where they would receive 100% of the buy-in back. However, this promotion was available to players who registered before the tournament started and was available only if they fell outside the money.
Main Event
The main event is the crowning glory of this tournament. It’s a three-day game with a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000 and about half a dozen Day 1 flights. However, it’s also the most expensive event in the tournament, with a buy-in of $530.
The first-day flight concluded on 7 May with more than 210 participants. This means it covered $105,000 of its $500,000 guarantee, so it needs about 800 more entrants to avoid an overlay. While most events are Hold-em games, some are Omaha games, like the other PLO main event with a $100,000 guarantee.
Other Highlights
Besides the main events, side events like the weekly Sunday Party are also available, with prize pools ranging from $150,000 to $200,000. There are also 6-Max and 7-Max Championship events, with buy-ins of $215 and $320, respectively, among many other knockout types.
