The eight-handed Final Fable of the EPT Barcelona 2013 €5,300 Main Event took place in the weekend. British pro Tom ‘hitthehole’ Middleton started in the chiplead of the following finalists:

Seat 4: Tom Middleton – 9,850,000
Seat 5: Eduard Bhaggoe – 1,615,000

Seat 7: Kresten Nielsen – 7,300,000
Seat 8: Benoit Gury – 5,610,000


Play started on Level 32 (20,000/80,000/160,000) and Andreas Christoforou was the first out. Eduard Bhaggoe, Benoit Gury and Pasi Sormunen followed, before shortstack Luca Fiorini got eliminated in 4th place. He opened to 625,000 from UTG on Level 34 (30,000/120,000/240,000) with A-J, Middleton 3-bet with pocket queens, Fiorini moved all-in and Middleton called. The board came neutral.

The heads-up was set soon: Kresten Nielsen and Kimmo Kurko got all-in on the 5-8-6 flop, Nielsen showed K-8 top pair but Kurko held 7-4 for a straight and eliminated the Dane.

The two players stroke a deal, agreeing that the winner would get €942,000 and the runner-up €750,000. Eventually, Middleton emerged victorious; in the last hand on Level 36 (50,000/200,000/400,000), he showed pocket fives against Kurko’s A-4 in an all-in hand and his cards held out.
