The last regular stop before the Grand Final in Madrid, the San Remo main event of the <em><a href="http://www.rakerace.com/poker-rooms/pokerstars/" title="PokerStars Room Review"><strong>PokerStars</strong></a> European Poker Tour</em> Season <em>7</em> begins today, on April 27.
EPT stopped for a last time before the Grand Final in San Remo, Italy, with the main event starting on Wednesday, April 27. In 2010, the San Remo tournament featured the biggest player field ever in the history of the series, having 1,240 entrants who amassed a total prize pool of €6,014,000. No other than Liv ‘The Iron Maiden’ Boeree managed to take down the event, winning her greatest ever live prize, €1,250,000.

Many of the biggest names of poker are expected at the €5,300 main event this year, held at the Casino San Remo, including Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Joe Cada, Randy ‘nanonoko' Lew, Lex Veldhuis, Johnny Lodden, Sebastian Ruthenberg, Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom, Chris Moorman and even the current champion Liv Boeree.

The pre-Grand Final EPT event follows the well known structure: players start with 30,000 in chips, blind level 1 is 50/100 and antes enter at level 5. Levels are 60 minutes long during Day 1 and 75 minutes long for the rest of the game. The final table is scheduled to Tuesday, May 3. Although it was planned to shuffle up and deal at 12:00 local time, PokerStarsBlog has already reported that the first hands had to be delayed until 2 pm.

San Remo debuted as an EPT stop in 2008 and was won then by Jason Mercier. Constant Rijkenber (2009) and the already mentioned Liv Boeree (2010) have joined him since.
